Dermal Aquaphoresis

The outer protective coating of the skin- or stratum corneum- is a virtually impenetrable barrier which is designed to resist external influences. Topical products cannot penetrate this protective layer so by themselves these products have limited success in treating problem areas.

To achieve results, Dermal Aquaphoresis penetrates the skin with advanced electrical waveforms and a conductive gel containing ingredients that treat imperfections caused by the aging process. A combination of three waveforms ‘push’ the gel ingredients deep into the tissue allowing them to more effectively address skin repair.

How it works

Your skin has various entry points which allow substances to pass through: hair follicles, sweat and sebaceous glands. However, these ‘openings’ are not evenly distributed over the surface of the skin and are generally too small to allow absorption. However, the initial waveform used in Dermal Aquaphoresis dilates these tiny openings and allows the transfer of active ingredients down into the skin.

And that’s just part of the story. A second electrical waveform targets muscle tone to increase skin firmness and to stimulate blood flow is critical for the production of collagen which maintains your skin’s ability to repair efficiently.

Finally, a third sequence of waveforms is used for lymphatic drainage of toxins and waste products that can compromise your skin’s ability to repair efficiently.

Treatments

Your medical professional will recommend an appropriate course or treatments based on your individual needs. Generally, Dermal Aquaphoresis requires an initial series of four to six sessions and may be offered in conjunction with other treatment strategies to maximize results. Also, you may be asked to take advantage of a home care program to compliment the sessions you receive in the office. We also recommend that you reduce sun exposure, quit smoking and modify your diet to enhance all treatments results.

Prior to treatment you will be asked a series of questions regarding your overall health and current medications. This is done because certain conditions may interfere with treatment. For example, if you have a cardiac pacemaker, a history of skin cancer, or are pregnant you cannot receive treatment.
